Gnomeo & Juliet Movie Reviews

What a strange, weird, good little movie! Executive producer is Elton John. If you enjoy his music, you'll like it, if not don't see it.
Why garden gnomes? I mean this story could have been done with cute rabbits or squarrels or some other cute animals, but instead it was done with creepy gnomes and other lawn decorations. I have a problem with that because they are freaky to me. Anyway, the film was somewhat alright although the story has been done so many times and I did not really like the way it was done in this animation. The film is absolutely loaded with British talent. James McAvoy and Emily Blunt were the voices of Gnomeo & Juliet. Gnomeo's enemy was Tybalt, is voiced by Jason Statham. They all did a great job with their characters and Ozzy Osbourne was surprisingly good as well. Overall, I wish I have not spend the money for the ticket and have waited for it to come out on DVD.
Gnomeo & Juliet is the latest computer animated film by I believe the same people who made Despicable Me. I must say that the entire time I was a little weirded out. Lawn gnomes kind of died out decades ago, I haven’t seen one around in such a long time. The entire plot of the movie is kind of thrown off for this reason. The movie is somewhat funny and cheerful but just didn’t feel right to me. I kept hearing Shakespear puns and odd popculture references, which just didn’t seem to fit the movie. The movie is based on Shakespear, hence the title of the movie. I am really happy I didn’t see this movie in 3D because I doubt it would have added anything significant. This was just a very disappointing movie.
I thought that the movie was alright, but I definitely expected more from it. It was not inspirational and felt that a lot of scenes were taken from the old animated hits. The music was amazing, I mean who does not love Elton John, it was wonderful to hear the music, however I felt that the music did not represent what was happening in the scenes. James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, Ashley Jensen, Michael Caine, Jason Statham, Patrick Stewart are the actors who did the voices of the characters and they all did a great job, however it was not memorable or special and you would think that with such an impressive cast it would be very special. Overall, I think the film was alright and if you have children they would definitely enjoy it, but if you are an adult I would suggest renting this film.
