The Roommate was a very cool movie. It stars Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly as two college freshman at a college in Los Angeles. Kelly stars as a girl who wants to be the next big fashion designer and is going to college for that. Meester on the other hand plays a weirdo artsy fartsy loner who later in the film we find out doesn’t have any friends. I didn’t find this movie particularly scary but rather the crazy/weird factor was in serious play. Almost immediately the audience starts to notice the obsession Meester has for Kelly’s character and it only gets worse. The director of the film did a great job of keeping the feeling of anxiety throughout the entire film. Every time Meester is on the screen you feel like she is going to do something crazy. Meester and Kelly didn’t do Oscar-worthy performances, but they both did decent jobs of convincing their roles in the film. Although I enjoyed the movie I can see other people not liking it so I won’t suggest it to everyone.

The Roommate, starring Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly, is the latest scary-movie obsession film. Minka Kelly stars as a college freshman in Los Angeles who has dreams of becoming the next big fashion designer icon. Leighton Meester, who is blowing up as an actress, plays a loner art student who doesn’t have any friends. The movie gets very weird very quickly. It becomes obvious that Meester’s character has developed an obsession for Kelly’s character and weird doesn’t even describe what happens. The movie itself isn’t going to win any Oscars but the entertainment value of The Roommate is palpable. It was only slightly scary but my jaw dropped at some of the scenes because I couldn’t believe what was going on. Not scary, but entertainment.

I absolutely hated this movie. First, let me say that I really enjoy scary movies, especially ones about obsession. Minka Kelly and Leighton Meester star in this college freshman story located in a fake college in Los Angeles, Ca. The two roommates meet each other for the first time upon moving and shortly after things start to get weird. The main problem with the film is that I just didn’t find it scary. That isn’t to say that there wasn’t a consistent anxiety caused by the film, especially every time Meester is on the screen. She does a very good job of playing a crazy girl. Sometimes it was a little hard to believe because she is very pretty and why would she be so obsessive of someone else, but the movie creators did a good job of making her look crazy. Overall, not a great film.

So the movie was totally whatever and not scary enough. It was very predictable and because of that all the scary moments fell flat and the film did not have any tension or suspense. There were absolutely no twists and the acting was not good at all. The movie was not terrible but definitely not even near to being good, it was below mediocare and these kind of movies are the hardest to review. These kind of movies fail to inspire on any level and make you forget about them the second you leave the theater. Minka Kelly and Leighton Meester seemed to pretend to act, it was just so fake and childlish. I think this movie lacked in a lot of ways, but I can not say that it was the worst I have seen. I do not think it is worth nationwide theater release and I do not recommend seeing it.

The Roommate is the latest movie focusing on “obsession.” I have seen a ton of these films already and I do tend to enjoy them. This film revolves around a new college student who moves into her college dorms with her forced new friend aka her roommate. Although there were pretty up and coming actresses and a somewhat unique storyline, overall the movie was not good. The movie was very obvious. The two characters are identified early on and the crazy one is identified early as well. The way they dress, the way they wear their hair, all points to one becoming jealous of the other. The acting job was also really poor. Both of them seem to be trying way too hard in a movie that does not require it. They could have just acted decently and looked pretty and the movie would have been more believable.

I was warned not to go see this film and I did not listen. Why did I not listen?! It was a complete waist of my time, I do not even care about the money at this point. First of all, it was almost the same as the movie “Single White Female”, and I actually liked that one, it was scary and thrilling. However, “Roommate” is not scary, not thrilling, not entertaining in any way whatsoever. It seems that the director decided to combine all the bad thrillers that he have seen and make this film even worse. There was not one moment that was tense or interesting, I was bored to death the whole time. This film should have gone straight to DVD and should have never been released in the theaters. I realize that this is a terrible review, actually more like a rant, but trust me, this movie totally deserves it. Take my advice and do not see this pathetic excuse for a movie.

I wish ! have saved my money and stayed home instead of seeing this stupid movie. It was not scary, well maybe if you are 10 years old you could get scared, there was no nudity, no gore, no good acting, stupid dialogue and just nothing interesting or intriguing about this film. Jennifer Jason Leigh did create a disturbing character and she was scary enough, so cudos for Jeniffer for making this film a little bit more bearable. Leighton Meester was boring and I did not understand if she was trying to play cute or deranged. There was absolutely no tension in the film and isn’t it the main goal of a horror movie? It was not even nice visually, I do not understand why this movie was labeled as a horror film. Overall, the movie was completely lame and I do not suggest seeing it.

It was a cheap and unimaginative thriller full of bad dialogue and silly sex scenes. I really did not enjoy anything about this movie and I knew the ending after the first scene in the movie. Maybe I am too old for this kind of movie where college kids party and get questionable roommates, I enjoy movies that make you think and wonder. Leighton Meester was alright in ths film, she did not shine or sucked, she was completely mediocre just as her co-star Minka Kelly. They are both very beautiful girls and they are easy on the eye, however, in my opinion, they are not very good actresses and their beauty does not substitute for a lack of talent. Overall, I do not recommend seeing this film, it is waste of money and time.

The movie totally sucked. Everything about it was bad: the acting, the storyline, the dialogue and even cinametography was horrible. If you have seen the movie “Single White Female” you will realize that “Roommate” is basically a rip-off and it is a really bad version of it. The story is so predictable and boring, that I was tempted to walk out in the beginning of the film. Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly did the best that they could with the material that has been given to them, it also helps that they are both gorgeous and easy to look at. I sound like a chauvinistic pig, but that is the only thing that I found enjoyable about this film. I do not recommend seeing this film, it is a total waste of your time and money.
