This is a drama about a a man who is given a second chance at a happy life, the film is directed by Paddy Considine and stars Peter Mullan, Olivia Colman and Eddie Marsan. I liked this film and I recommend seeing it in the theaters. The film was pretty shocking and hard to watch sometimes but I like films like that and enjoyed the ride. I kind of wish that there was a message in this film instead of just terrible reality of the characters but I still liked watching it. The acting in this film is absolutely amazing and very impressive, all the actors did a great job. Te film is very deeply felt and that is why it is moving and hard to watch sometimes. Overall, not everyone will like this film but I think you have to see it yourself to find out.
I did not like this film and I do not recommend seeing it in the theaters. The film was way too intense for my taste and I just could not handle the depressing reality of the characters’ lives. I thought the acting in the film was superb but that is not enough, at least not for me. The film has no message and watching it felt pointless for me. In my opinion, the director made some choices that were odd and were made just to shock the audience and I do not appreciate that. Basically the film is a major downer and it made me depressed and unhappy, I do not like paying money for sadness. Overall, I think the film is way too sad and hopeless and I did not have a good time watching it.
This film was very intense and very good. I was so invested throughout the whole film and left the movie theater a little bit shaken. The whole movie is kind of sad and gloomy but insanely good story and amazing acting makes it really good. Joseph (Peter Mullan) is such a well developed character and even though he is full of fundementl flaws, in the end you realize that Joseph is just yet another lost soul. Peter Mullen did a superb job with this role as well as his co-star Olivia Colman who plays Hannah. Her character is so kind and full of goodness and in the same time Hannah has many demons that consume her life and she is just like Joseph- a lost soul. There was a scene in the movie (the rape scene) that made me very uncomfortable and uneasy, I realize it was not meant to be a nice scene, but in my opinion the director could have gone another way. The film is full of mystery and you can never know what Joseph will do and if he really is a good or a bad guy. I really liked this movie and I recommend seeing it, because it was some of the best acting an I have seen.
